The Dr. Rodger J. Elble, M.D. Fellowship is established to recognize individuals who have provided outstanding financial support to I-I District Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation (KNRF). Named after our I-I District KNRF Medical Director, Dr. Elble began his involvement with the then Spastic Paralysis Research Foundation in 1998 when he applied for and received his first grant to research tremors.
Dr. Elble became the third Medical Director of the Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation in 2011. As the Medical Director, all of the research requests require his approval, and each of the researchers are required to provide an annual report which he reviews to ensure I-I District KNRF is funding the right things and the funds are being spent as expected.
His personal area of focus is on tremor disorders which includes diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Elble has served as the Director of the Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders Center at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield since March 2004. His reputation and accomplishments span local, national, and international activities. Nationally, he is working with the US FDA to develop and validate the ADL-PRO scale that quantifies the impact of essential tremor on activities of daily living. Internationally, he is collaborating with doctors in the European Union to create a web-based database for patients with essential tremor and related disorders.
On behalf of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis and the I-I District Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation, we are proud to honor Dr. Rodger Elble’s dedicated commitment to service through this auspicious award. Anyone can become a Dr. Rodger J. Elble Fellow by making a one-time gift of $1,000 or more to I-I District KNRF. Ways to donate include:
